Autumn Term Topic – Once Upon A Time
This term our topic is Once Upon a Time. We are looking a range of stories particularly fairy tales such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood etc. We will be sequencing events in stories and talking about our families and families in stories. We will be learning number songs and rhymes, learning to count with 1-1 correspondence and measuring height, weight and capacity.
Ways you can help at home:
- Join Class Dojo to make sure you get important messages about how your child is doing and talk to them about the dojo points they receive.
- We will be sending home a weekly family activity which is meant to be fun for all the family and will also help your child to learn about fairy tales and stories.
- Please send any interesting objects related to our topic to school (not valuable items, please).
- Please listen to your child reading at home (a Reading Record is provided for you to make comments) and return on the day stated.
- Use the character pictures and names and the reading stage keywords we sent home to help your child recognise the characters in our reading books.
- Read your child a bedtime story.
- Get outdoors – go for a walk, grow vegetables or flowers etc.
- Join the local library and encourage your child to visit regularly and choose new books.
